Scottish Supplementary Cup (North) History For the season 1954-55 it was decided that all the clubs who previously competed in the Qualifying Cups (North and South) would be entered directly into the Scottish Cup competition with the league clubs not playing until the later rounds. As a result the Scottish Supplementary Cup (North) and the Scottish Supplementary Cup (South) tournaments were introduced in the 1954-55 season to replace the Qualifying Cups (North and South). The new tournaments were only competed for during three seasons before the Qualifying Cups (North and South) were restored. The finals were played on a two-legged basis home and away and Inverness Thistle played in two of the three finals finishing runners-up in the competitions first season (1954-55) and winning the trophy the following season (1955-56).
