Andrew 'Jupie' Mitchell
Born: Not known
Andrew 'Jupie' Mitchell was one of the most prolific goalscorers ever to play in the Highland League. Following completion of his National Service in 1949 he joined local rivals Caledonian where his goals helped them to three Qualifying Cups, two League Championships, two North Cups, a Highland League Cup and an Inverness Cup in only five seasons.
In 1955 he joined Thistle where he added Inverness Cup and Scottish North Cup medals to his collection. He is most fondly remembered by Jags fans for his goal scoring exploits. In season 1954-55 the Jags finished 3rd scoring 108 goals with 'Jupie' scoring 52 goals including four in Thistle's record Highland League win 11-0 against Nairn County. In the same season he scored a further 25 in the cup competitions making a grand total of 77 goals in a single season.
As with all prolific highland goal scorers the senior clubs were keen to get his signature but he resisted and played all his football in the Highland League.
